Disney's Expedition Everest - Keep Your Eyes Wide Open

The newest attraction to grace Walt Disney World's mountain range is Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom. It has been the buzz for many years, and much anticipated since Epcot's Soarin' was unveiled a few years ago. I experienced the attraction twice - once in stand-by, and once with a FastPass.

The architectural illusion of the attraction house (which is shaped, obviously, like Mount Everest) is absolutely stunning. The peak looks miles up (but Splash Mountain is actually taller!), and there is nothing around to clutter the view. It could be Disney's best illusion yet - and you don't even have to wait in a line to experience it!

The line queue is nice as well - visitors weave through a quaint mountainside village on their way to the loading bay. On the way, teaser exhibits describing "Yeti lore" show that locals admire a certain mountain creature.

My first ride experience was a bit of of a disappointment. It reminded me too much of the aged Matterhorn in Disneyland. I won't spoil the actual attraction for you here, but it was a regular roller coaster. Think Indiana Jones (in Paris, not Disneyland!) mixed with Matterhorn.

However, I later learned that I missed the attraction's major highlight (I must have blinked or something) - a large Yeti. The next time I kept my eyes peeled, and I saw, for less than two seconds, the largest, creepiest, most monstrous animatronic Yeti in all of Disneydom. For the effect of those two seconds, the ride suddenly became worth it. I just wish it was more obvious, and that I had seen it the first time.

Destination Spotlight - Mexico

Mexico has crept up in the race for popular tourist destinations in recent years and it's now right up there with the best of them. Cancun especially has become immensely popular with tourists and holidaymakers. Now you don't want to be the one to miss out do you? But if you need a little more encouraging here are the top reasons to go.

Beaches
Of course the major reason to visit Cancun is the beaches. White sand beaches and deep blue waters are what make Cancun beaches so perfect. There waters are perfect for surfers and there are plenty of other water sports on offer too but lets face it what youre really hitting the beach for is to lie down with a good book in a new bikini and for that you couldnt get anywhere better.

Nightlife
Downtown Cancun is home to a range of clubs, bars and restaurants so it is the ideal place to go for a night on the town. Music plays a big part in Mexican culture and thats clear from the nightlife here. Youll find salsa bars on practically every corner so dont forget your dancing shoes.

Weather
In the summer, good weather in Cancun is a sure thing, unlike the unpredictable UK. Temperatures rarely drop below 26 degrees in the summer months and often reach high into the thirties. If youre visiting in winter though be careful as temperatures do get chilly.

Shopping
A holiday isnt a holiday unless you bag yourself some bargains and youll not be disappointed in Cancun. The Kukulkan Plaza is a 60,000 square metre shopping centre with over 250 shops including unique boutiques and stalls.

History
Cancun is home to several ruins from the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. Be sure to check out Ruinas del Ray and El Meco.
